Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) Waived for 2020  (April 2020) The CARES Act suspends required minimum distributions (RMDs) for 2020. The relief applies to traditional IRAs, SEP IRAs and SIMPLE IRAs, as well as 401(k), 403(b) and governmental 457(b) plans. It also applies to BOTH retirement account owners themselves AND to beneficiaries taking stretch distributions. You do not HAVE to take money from your IRA this year if you wish not to.
